Muller was talking about the plan being so unreadable and elaborate but, thinking about it logically, even if no one on the Iserlohn had the foresight to see through the plan before hand, after being forced to retreat your forces back within the fortress and seeing your enemy bugger off in the direction of the most valuable admiral your alliance has had in the history of it's existence...surely it wouldn't take that long to click, right?
Also, kinda funny how Kempff's hard headed straight forwardness led him to the same strategy a more flexible, highly competent commander would have implemented in the first place.
The idea of Muller is sound.... if their first attack actually connects. Thats the main problem with why Muller plan fails there.
If their first attack connects and deal damage enough for the fortress fleet. It mean it will take longer for them to regroup before they are able to launch up to hit Kempf fleet from behind.
The fact that their first attack does not connect much, it end up providing false information toward the Empire fleet thinking that their strategy actually is working to the tee. It is when they are pincer far faster than they predicted that they know their whole plan from the start has been failure.
It a bit sad tho, because if they had just crushed the fortress into the other fortress, there would be barely any casualties for the empire (At least I think they would like leave the fort and not do a kamikaze, but who knows.)
I'm glad they all came to conclusion that smashing fortresses into one another was the best solution. Currently they are just cheeping away their military force.
Militarily, its the best solution. However the diplomatic aspect of it would damage its reputation towards the civilian populace of the FPA since there are civilians in Iserlohn. It would prove hard for the Empire to control the FPA when they've done that, especially that the FPA is a free democratic nation.
It'd have been hard either way because they are a democratic nation... so crashing the fortresses together wouldnt have had any major setback in the grand scheme of things
speaking of which taking away freedom from someone who have tasted it is never the good course of action
The fact that Yang and Reinhard had the same idea on what to do with the Geiersburg Fortress really shows how scarily similar they think. I don't even know what will happen the next time the two of them meet on the battlefield.
This entire "finale" though is just Kempff getting his ass kicked. His plan to fake them out was so obvious that Julian saw it coming. Then again, Julian isn't really your average alliance soldier.
That final scene though. Definitely an act of desperation by Kempf and not a stroke of genius. If it was he would've done that at the very start. What a fucking cliffhanger though. I hate that we have to wait until September for the rest. >_<
If you assume julian is an ordinary soldier you're schewpid for that, bruh he literally has the cream of the crop in terms of teachers
Wait till September?
Wait till....... Why if I my ask?
When you see all your enemies run off in direction after forcing you to retreat, you know something is up. Even if you don't know what is up, the enemies still turned their backs to you. So shoot them in the back.
And there's pose to be another episode but this was only have 12 eps so most likely the next movie is gonna be ova or the next season.
They already confirmed season 4 like two weeks ago.
Ok, got it.. I don't look at every piece of anime or such news. So pretty much unaware like almost all the time.
That is me in a nut shell ha ha ha
Me in the comments last week: "Maybe they can crash the attacking fortress into the other one..."
Team Empire this week: "We'll just crash our fortress into theirs!"
It's interesting though, Lohengramm doesn't seem surprised at this outcome at all. So I have to wonder, what's the other play here?
If empire's fortress can move, can the alliance's fortress move? If alliance's fortress can move they can avoid the full kinetic force of head on collision between 2 heavy objects in space and the empire's fortress will not magically u- turn itself unless anime logic enters and ignores Isaac Newton's Law of Motion.
Kempff strategy is not that bad actually. It focus on being swift and quickly destroying the reinforcement fleet before the fortress fleet quickly can reset themselves into launching.
The problem is their first move is read hard by Julian which mean there is effect of confusion or huge damage over their first pincir attack there.
By having that perception that their first move deal enough damage that it make those inside the fortress to think twice before launching again makes them push even further without proper back up armies in worst case scenario.
Also the moment that their swift and quickly destroying Yang reinforcement fleet is being bog by the railgun attack, thats the moment the blitz strategy has stray into prolonged battle where the fleet need to split into 3 where 2 need to attack the railgun armies.(Artilery IRL)
That move means even lesser armies to break through that 5500 fleet there= even longer to beat Yang while risking getting pincer.
Overall, the big winner in this move in the end is shockingly Julian as, without Julain in that move. Yang probably will still get killed by Kempf due to their huge amount of armies bruteforcing them.
So they're gonna save the final episode for next season.
I've got a real soft spot for Kempff, so I hate seeing everything falling off the rails like this, but... he put himself in this situation. :(
I get what you are saying...Kempff is among my own favourite Imperials, and considering the fate that awaits him...
A cliffhanger is way better than a rushed ending! Cant wait for SAKUBOU! Lets fking GO!!!
Not going to lie here, it is sort of bs how the "good guys" aka Alliance Fleet always pull of some last ditch major blow, whilst it feels like all the Imperials do is shout commands and look at a guide book telling them exactly what to do and how to fall into an obvious trap. I just don't enjoy the traditional approach that "the bad guys" always lose or can't get anything done unless it's the main villain.
This battle was consider the poke.
Empire has vast military reserve than the Alliance.
If Reinhard wished for full-scale invasion.
He will need massive fleet that more than the number of Alliance fell invasion.
*After the battle of Astarte, the Empire had 20% more manpower than the Alliance. But after Alliance defeated in succession. (Failed invasion lost 60-70% of its military, stupid coup'de'tat)
If the Alliance loses the fortress, They will no longer has any force to stop the empire invasion.
The only reason for the Alliance still managed to outwit the empire.
Because all the best (remnant) of Alliance strategists and soldiers stopped the feeble empire fleet at the most important chokepoint.
Reinhard lacks the excuse to mobilize entire empire military to attack the Alliance. (Most people don't support war after hundred years of suffering under the high nobles and many civil war. They want peace)
Reinhard: “From my point of view, the Jedi Alliance are evil!”
Julian giving all those admirals a new insight, I like how they also asked for his thoughts as he was raised by Yang and even Yang himself was hoping Julian would be able to figure out his own plans.
Interesting how Reinhard and Oberstein were able to realize Kempff's report was false and sent Reunthal and Mittermeyer to help out if Kempff isn't taken out by then. I wonder how Yang will overcome the crash if it comes to that since it'll be harder to avoid since the fortress is so big.
Man, now I have to wait for season 4.
yang just be like i'd just crash both fortresses into each other and kill all my enemies with a smile on his face (at least speaking as if he was lohengram), love the dude
Fking best anime in the whole time , age, space and galaxy
What I don't understand is if the Iserlohn Corridor is the only viable way through to the free alliance territory minus Fezzan since I don't see either side using that corridor.
Why has the free alliance not been hampering up defenses in the corridor like crazy, like space mines, artemis satellites, and a whole bunch of other things. To make it an impassable line like the Maginot line minus that you can't really go around it yet with the current tech.
I'd be putting mines, bunch of satellites like they had around Heinessen the 12 Yang blew up. Having a very strong line of defense would give them ample amount of time to rebuild their fleets whilst containing the empire to this corridor.
Genius and ordinary eventually landed on the same conclusion. The only difference was how long it took them. If Kempff survives this he will improve a level further. I honestly think it was a mission which was going to fail since he was outclassed by Yang in the first place in terms of rank and experience. It's like sending a chihuaha to fight a doberman. I like his straightforward approach though but he is more of a pawn than a knight.
well you prb didnt read the small print happens to the best of us (btw i lost track is this the big story cause if it is we just split it into 2)(its more fun this way and we can each tell our own story whil sticking to one big one)

i really thought kemph alredy avoid the flag after he success teleported that fortress
When I saw the OVAs I always wondered why Merkatz and his aide never changed uniforms, since they are basically deserters, their sense of honor would not let them wear the empire uniforms. I thought it was due to budget limitations, but now it's the same with this adaptation. Is a small detail but I always wondered why.
He is Guest Admiral. He never sees himself as vassal of the FPA. But of old Empire.
Yes, but even after this they keep using the same uniforms even in non-official mettings. Also, the FPA may see them as guests but the admiral clearly sees himself as a deserter after losing the civil war.
He desert from the Empire but he never swear allegiance toward FPA. Thats why he keep wearing that uniform. As sign that he will remain loyal to Empire rather than FPA or the new Empire under the Golden boyo
That's a good explanation, IIRC Merkazt rejected Reinhard's admiralty proposal and instead he retired.
